영화 “공작”… 그 땐 말이지….

지금도 마찬가지라고 여겨지지만, 90년대는 북핵문제로 한반도는 늘 긴장상태의 연속이였고 남북관계는 살얼음판을 걷는 것 처럼 언제 어떤 일이 벌어질지 모르는 상황이 많았습니다.
국민들은 몇몇 언론사에서 뿌려주는 정보에 의존하여 남북관계에 대한 이해와 여론이 형성되던 시기였는데요.
1997년 북풍사건을 비롯하여 어느 정권의 위기 때만 되면 찾아오는 여러 사건들과 2005년 당시 세상을 떠들썩 하게 만들었던 남북합작 삼성 anycall 광고가 가능 하였던 그 배경이 당시 대북 공작을 담당하였던 암호명 “흑금성”을 통하여 세상에 알려지게 되었습니다.
실화를 바탕으로 만들어진 영화들이 많습니다. 좋은 영화들도 많지만, 사실에 치중하다 보면 긴장감이 떨어지거나 어떠한 이유에서 당시의 분위기나 모습을 완벽히 전달해 주지 못하는 부분이 많습니다.
그러나 이번에 보게 된 영화 “공작”은 실화를 바탕으로 만들어지는 영화들의 단점을 황정민이라는 최고의 배우가 자신의 연기를 통하여 극복하고 있는 모습을 볼 수 있었으며, 이성민, 조진웅, 주지훈 같은 연기의 선이 굵직한 배우들이 자칫 지루해질 수 있는 시간의 흐름을 잘 잡아주었다고 보여집니다.

현재를 살아가는 우리들에게 벌어졌던 역사적 사실의 이면에서 실제로 어떤 일이 어떻게 진행되었는지 “흑금성”이라는 실존하는 공작원의 진술을 바탕으로 만들어진 영화 “공작”
원래 영화의 제목이 “흑금성”이였으나 제작 당시의 영화계 블랙리스트 등 문제로 영화제작에 문제가 생길 것을 우려하여 가제로 “공작”으로 불렀던 것이 지금의 영화제목이 되었다고 감독 윤종빈은 YTN과의 인터뷰에서 밝기고 있습니다.

오랜 시간이 지났지만, 대한민국의 역사 속에서는 지금도 현재 진행형인 여러 가지 정치적 상황, 특히나 남북관계에 있어서 온 국민들을 위기 의식으로 몰아 가기도 했으며 곧 통일이라도 될 것처럼 여겨지게 만들었던 여러 사건들에 대한 사실적 내용을 재미난 플롯에 따라 집중하고 이해하게 만든 영화였습니다.
“역사적 진실”이라는 부분은 누군가는 밝히고 싶고 누군가는 감추고 싶으며 또 누군가는 자신이 믿었던 그대로 두었으면 하는, 많은 사람들의 생각과 판단이 교차되는 부분이 아닌가 합니다.
그럼에도 불구하고 진실을 갈구하는 것은 의식과 인식이 있는 인간이라면 당연하다고 여겨지는데요.
당시 상황을 경험하지 못한 젊은 세대들에게는 새로운 볼거리와 이슈가 되고 당시를 경험한 세대들에게는 시대적 상황에 따라 경험한 내용을 새롭게 해석하게 되는 계기가 될 것으로 보입니다.
개봉이 되면 정치색 논란은 분명히 생길 것으로 여겨지는 영화 “공작”이였습니다.
