분노의 질주 주인공이였던 “폴 워커” 사후. 많은 팬들의 슬픔 속에서도 더 사랑을 받고 있는 현재 최고의 자동차 액션 영화 “분노의 질주”.
 
분노의 질주 9편이 나오기 전인 지금 그 스핀-오프로 분노의 질주의 인물 중 홉스(드웨인 존슨)와 쇼(제이슨 스타덤)의 이야기를 전개하고 있습니다.
 
영화를 보기 전엔 구성 인물들에 대한 상세한 그들의 과거의 삶과 자동차를 죽도록 사랑하고 속도를 미치도록 사랑하게 되는 과정 등을 하나씩 열거할 또다른 재미가 있지 않을까 하는 생각을 가지게 만듭니다.
 
하지만 영화 “홉스앤쇼”는 매 회 시간이 갈수록 이야기가 산으로 가고 있는 심히 걱정스러운 분노의 질주 스토리 처럼 빗발치는 총알과 폭발과 화려한 화염, 개인기 넘치는 액션으로 개봉되는 다른 액션 영화들과 다를 바 없는 그런 액션을 선보여주고 있습니다.
 
두 영웅의 미국식과 영국식의 대조되는 스타일도 잠시…
 
현실성 보다는 SF공상과학 영화의 한 부분처럼 구성된 내용과 액션은 나와 한 몸이 되어줄 자동차를 튜닝하고 속도와 함께 아드레날린을 뿜어내는 그런 전작들과는 많은 부분 아쉬움과 실망을 자아냅니다.
 
맥라렌 720S 질주는 영화를 제품광고의 장으로 만들며 충분히 목적은 이루었다고 볼 수 있습니다.
 
그러나 거의 모든 액션이나 내용이 꼭 마블의 그것들 처럼 하려는 것이 아닌가 하는 의문을 들게 만들기도 합니다. 이 모든 것은 감독이 데드풀2를 만든 데이빗 리치 감독으로 아토믹블론드와 존윅 등의 연출과 감독을 맡았던 감독이라는 것을 알고 나면 조금은 이해도 될만 합니다.
 
“분노의 질주” 타이틀을 내걸고 있기에 많은 분노의 질주 팬들의 관심과 팬이 아니라도 그 명성에 괜찮은 영화일거라고 생각하고 봤을 관객들이 많을 듯 합니다.
 
스토리를 엮어 나가는 동안 우리의 정서로는 이해를 다하지 못하는 그들의 말장난은 영화 내용을산만하게 만듭니다.
뜬금없는 데드폴의 라이언 레이놀즈의 출연과 각자의 인맥과 과거 또는 현재 진행되고 있는 자신들과 관련된 다른 영화에서의 내용들을 곁들이며 웃음을 유발하려 하지만 쓴웃음만 짓게 됩니다.
 
자동차를 좋아하고 분노의 질주를 좋아하는 팬의 입장에서 본다면 분명 실망감을 안겨주는 이름값 제대로 못하는 영화가 될 것이지만, 단순 오락용 영화를 본다는 관객의 입장이라면 그나마 볼거리 좀 보여주는 액션영화가 될 것 입니다.
