영화가 끝나고 영화관 불이 켜짐과 동시에 바로 옆에서 데이트를 하고 있는 듯 한 젊은 연인들의 짧은 대화를 들을 수 있었습니다.
 
여자친구의 질문에 뭐라고 얘기를 해야할지 대답을 미루고 있는 남자는 “잘 모르겠는데…”라는 말과 함께 상대의 손을 잡고 극장 밖으로 나가는 모습이 보입니다.
 
아마 여성이 짊어지고 가는 사회적인 무게, 젠더갈등 등을 책을 읽지 않았더라도 이 영화를 통해 그 메세지를 전달하고자 한 것으로 보입니다.
 
영화 “82년생 김지영”은 2016년 베스트셀러 소설을 원작으로 하는 영화입니다.
 
당시 소설은 대한민국에서 여성들이 겪고 있는 남녀차별과 사회의 여성에 관한 인식 등을 주인공 김지영을 통하여 어린시절 부터 지금까지의 경험을 이야기 하고 수 많은 독자들의 호응을 얻음과 동시에 사회적인 문제로 공론화 하기에 이르게 됩니다.

하지만 한가지 확실한 것은 이 소설을 읽거나 영화를 보게 되는 독자나 관객은 결국 자신의 경험에 비추어 판단하고 이야기 할 수 밖에 없는 것이고 그것은 각각의 사람마다 다 다르다는 것 입니다.
 
오히려 여성중에서 비판을 하는 입장이 나오기도 하며 남성중에서 공감하는 입장이 나오기도 합니다.

그래도 찾아보면 누군가 내가 본 장면을 바로 지금 경험하고 있을 것이라는 것은 가정이 아닌 사실일 것 같은 것은 그 만큼 비일비제 하다는 것이 아닐까요?
 
몇 년의 시간이 흐르면서 그 동안 한국 사회의 젠더갈등이나 사회갈등 요소에 대해서 수 많은 사건사고와 논의들이 이어지고 있는 것은 영화/소설 “82년 김지영”이 본질적으로 전달하고자 했던 내용일거라 여겨집니다.
 
영화는 분명 여자 김지영의 입장에서 여자 김지영이 겪는 사회 부조리를 이야기 하고 있습니다.
