유럽에서 자동차 여행을 생각해 본 적 있나요?
 
유럽여행을 한다고 하면 많은 사람들이 배낭여행이나 패키지 여행 등 여러가지를 생각할 수 있습니다. 이동 수단은 기차와 버스 같은 대중교통이 대부분이고 그렇게 비용을 최소화 하며 즐길 수 있는 방법을 찾게 됩니다.
 
물론 금전과 시간적 여유가 허락된 경우에는 조금 더 이상적인 여행을 즐길 수 있을 겁니다.
 
그런데 넓은 유럽의 대륙을 자동차로 여행을 한다는 생각을 해본적 있으신가요?
 
생소한 남의 나라에서 운전을 한다는 건 조금은 걱정스러운 일이 아닐 수 없는데요.
반면, 속도 무제한의 독일 ‘아우토반’을 달려 본다는 것은 생각만 해도 즐겁고 탑기어(topgear) 같은 곳에서나 보았던 ‘뉘르부르크링’ 같은 곳은 이름만 들어도 심장이 쫄깃해지는 기분을 느끼실겁니다.
 
다양한 유럽여행에 대한 소개가 있지만 자동차 덕후들에게 그리고 남들과 다른 여행 경험을 갖고자 하는 사람들에겐 유럽에서의 자동차 여행은 매우 매력적이라 생각됩니다.
 
이번엔 이런 ‘자동차유럽여행’과 관련하여 오프라인 강연이 있어 참석하는 기회를 가져 보았습니다
 
불금에 찬바람 부는 강남 영동대로에 위치한 DS스토어에서 열린 이번 강연회는 10일(금), 11일(토) 양일간 열렸습니다.
 
이번 ‘유럽 자동차여행 프리미엄’ 강연의 경우 인터넷 SNS를 통하여 광고된 내용을 보고 유료신청(20,000원)을 했기 때문에 그 만큼 내용에 대한 기대가 클 수 밖에 없었습니다.
 
강연시간 보다 일찍 온 참석자들은 DS갤러리에서 진행하는 DS 차량들을 시승 할 수 있는 기회도 같이 제공되었습니다.
 
강연 시작전 참석자들은 간단한 핑거푸드를 즐기며 진행을 맡은 ‘김송은 에디터(현 탑기어코리아에디터, 전 모터리안 기자)를 직접 보고 많은 관심을 가지는 것을 확인할 수 있었습니다.

많지 않은 40명 내외의 참석자를 대상으로 준비된 강연장은 DS스토어의 공간을 활용한 만큼 그리 크지 않았지만 나름 커뮤니티 냄새를 물씬 풍기며 여러가지 시도를 함께 하는 모습을 볼 수 있었는데요.
 
이번 ‘유럽 자동차여행 프리미엄’ 강연의 강연자는 ‘류선욱’ 대표로 자동차를 이용한 유럽여행이라는 여행상품을 기획해 아달프(아우토반을 달리는 프로젝트의 약자)를 운영하고 있으며 유럽 자동차 여행에 있어서는 아직 ‘류선욱 (아달프 대표)’ 대표를 따라 갈 사람이 없는 것으로 알려져 있습니다.

강연은 김송은 에디터의 진행을 시작으로 ‘류선욱’ 유럽 자동차여행 전문가의 프리젠테이션을 통한 유럽여행에 대한 개요와 자동차를 이용하게 될 경우 어떤 장점이 있는지, 어떤 관광지가 자동차로 여행하기 괜찮은지, 보여지는 것과 다른 관광지의 모습들, 사전에 준비해야 할 사항들과 나라별 주의사항 등 많은 내용을 전달해 주고 있었습니다.
 
유럽의 경우 국내와는 달리 틴팅이나 자동차 블랙박스에 관해서 많은 규제가 있다는 것은 일반적인 운전자들의 상식과 많은 차이가 있었으며 고속도로를 달리다가 순찰차를 만났을 때 어떻게 해야하는지….교통범칙금을 받게 된 경험 등 자동차로 가면 좋은 관광지의 소개도 좋지만 운전에 있어 실질적으로 필요한 내용이 더 많았습니다.
 
프리젠테이션 화면에 나오는 내용보다 더 중요한 것은 바로 강연을 하는 ‘류선욱’대표의 개인적인 경험과 소개되는 여러가지 일화들이 더 알차게 보입니다. 인터넷 검색만 하기 보다 오프라인을 통한 강연회에 참석하게 되는 이유가 바로 이런 이유가 아닐까 합니다.

강연 중간 이어지는 질문과 대답들은 자칫 지루해질 수 있는 강연을 좀 더 부드럽게 만들기도 했는데요.
 
우리와 다른 문화와 환경을 가진 나라를 가는 것도 많은 설레임을 갖게 만드는데, 그 중에서 드림카를 타고 대륙을 가로질러 본다면 많은 여행 경험을 가진 사람에게도 완전히 색다른 경험이 될 것은 분명합니다.
 
이날 참석자 가운데 곧 유럽으로 자동차 여행을 가기 위해 준비 중인 분도 계셨는데요. 의도치 않게 혼자서 많은 질문을 하게 되어 눈치를 보는듯 하였지만 지금과 같은 기회에 궁금증을 해결하고 떠나야겠다는 생각은 분명해 보였습니다. 비록 질의 응답 시간이 길긴 했지만 다른 참석자들도 생각은 해보아야 할 문제들이기에 묵묵히 지켜보며 고개를 끄덕이는 모습도 볼 수 있었습니다.
 
자동차로 유럽을 여행한다는 것, 낭만적이고 재미있어 보이지만 비용에 있어서 걱정이 안될 수 없을텐데요. 자유롭고 남들이 잘 가보지 못한 곳을 찾아가며 원하는 만큼의 여행을 즐기고자 한다면 이번 강연과 관련된 전문가들과 함께 상담을 해보면 적절한 답을 찾을 수 있을 것 같았습니다.
 
이번 강연회는 ‘류선욱’ 대표가 준비한 ‘유럽 자동차여행 프리미엄’ 강연 이외에도 그가 대표로 맡고 있는 ‘아달프(아우토반 달리기 프로젝트)’에 대한 소개와 이번 강연과 관련된 세게적인 렌터카 업체인 Hertz, DS 오토모빌, 그리고 ‘탑기어코리아’와 공동으로 주최 및 협찬한 자신들의 브랜드에 대한 마케팅도 함께 이루어졌습니다.
 
한가지 아쉬워 부분은 좋은 강연을 듣고 이어지는 각 회사들의 소개로 길어지는 행사 시간이 부담스러웠다는 것입니다.
 
유료인 강좌에 참석했기 때문에 이런 마케팅 보다 강연의 환경과 내용에 더 많은 부분 신경을 써 주었으면 하는 바람이 들기도 하였는데요. 그러나 이번 강연에 마련된 푸짐한 ‘웰컴 기프트백’이 그런 불편한 기분을 풀어주기도 했습니다.

강연회가 끝난 뒤에도 ‘류선욱 대표’에게 개별적인 질문이나 셀카 요청도 많았습니다. 기자도 이런 자동차를 이용한 새로운 접근에 대한 관심에서 ‘류선욱 대표’에게 질문을 하나 하게 되었습니다.
 
  Q) 지인이 아우토반을 달릴 때 왜건에 아이를 태우고도 시속 200km 이상을 달리는 모습을 보고 놀랍기도 했지만 그들은 전혀 불안해 보이지 않았다고 합니다. 그들에게 아우토반에서의 운전에 대한 안전은 어디에서 보장받고 있다고 생각하십니까?

오늘도 자동차 핸들을 잡고 있는 모든 분들이 다들 명심했으면 하는 부분이였습니다.
 
자동차와 관련된 문화를 찾기 힘든 가운데 찾은 ‘유럽 자동차여행 프리미엄’ 강연은 멋진 자동차와 함께 할 수 있는 ‘새로운 시도’로 여겨졌으며 자동차를 단지 탈 것 또는 비싼 물건이 아닌 새로운 시각에서 ‘세계로 향하는 수단’으로 다가 왔습니다.
