SNS 하시나요?

SNS를 한다고 하면 facebook, instagram 등이 대표적인데요. 세대별로 시간이 지남에 따라 사용하는 SNS도 다양해지는 등 빠른 변화를 보이고 있습니다.

이런 SNS 환경 속에서 여러분들은 어떤 종류를 어떤 방식으로 사용하고 계신가요?

한 개인의 SNS를 통하여 그 사람의 생활패턴과 사고방식 인간관계 등 생각보다 많은 것을 파악 할 수 있다고 합니다.

오늘은 이런 SNS를 이용한 새로운 영화가 개봉되어 소개해 드리고자 합니다.

개봉 전부터 꼭 봐야 할 영화로 손꼽힌 영화 “서치”입니다.

영화 속에서 화목한 Kim의 가족은…
대부분의 사람들이 그렇듯, 수 많은 즐거웠던 추억들의 기록이 아이의 성장과 시간의 흐름 그 모든 것을 그 시대에 사용하고 있는 컴퓨터에 저장하거나 웹공간에 업로드 하고 있었습니다.

컴퓨터 화면과 고전적인 커서의 움직임 그리고 둔탁한 타자 음을 던져주며 글자를 표시하는 키보드 자판 소리와 함께 현대의 누구라도 그렇게 해보았을 움직임들을 보여주며, 과거로의 시간여행 속에 관객들을 끌어 드립니다.

그것도 아주 조용히…또 가끔은 해본 적 있기에 웃음도 나오고 옆사람과 끽끽거리며 지금 화면의 저것을 자기도 잘 안다는 표현을 해보기도 합니다.

세상살이 희노애락이라 했나요?

늘 행복 할 것 같은 Kim의 가족에게 엄마의 암투병 그리고 죽음은 남겨진 아빠와 딸에겐 상처 그 이상의 깊은 골을 남기고 가족간 보이지 않는 선을 만들어 놓고 있었습니다.

어느 날 밤,

세통의 부재중 전화만을 남기고 집에 돌아오지 않는 딸의 행적을 찾던 아빠 david Kim은 딸 Margot의 SNS를 뒤지며 친구들을 수소문 하지만, SNS의 친구들은 진정한 딸의 친구가 아님을 알게되고…

결국 실종이든 가출이든 경찰에 신고하여 수사가 진행 되지만, 경찰의 수사 보다 아빠 데이비드의 SNS 추적이 더 큰 증거들을 따라가고 있었습니다.

급박한 순간 마다.

클릭 한 번, 검색어 입력, 마우스 커서의 움직임 …. 아빠 데이비드의 숨소리와 화상용 카메라를 통한 컴퓨터 화면에 비친 데이비드의 지친 얼굴은 그가 다음에 찾게 될 그 무엇에 대하여 기대와 의구심을 가지며 관객들은 조용히 다음 화면으로 넘어가는 과정을 지켜보게 됩니다.

이 영화를 보며, 관객들이 눈치를 챘는지 모르지만,

우리는 연기를 하는 배우들 특히 아빠 david kim과 딸 margot의 실제 모습을 보지 못하고 대부분 스마트폰과 컴퓨터의 화상채팅을 통한 제2의 반사된 이미지를 보고 있다는 것입니다.

이 영화에서 영화촬영을 위한 카메라를 통하여 직접 비추어진 배우들의 모습을 보는 경우는 극히 일부분 입니다. 과거의 모습 또한 온라인에 저장, 복사된 그들의 모습일 뿐인 것입니다.

감독이 의도 하였든 그렇지 않든 현재의 인터넷 시대를 살아가는 우리는 누군가의 실제 모습 또는 벌어지고 있는 실제 상황을 통하여 판단하는 것이 아니라 반복되는 녹화와 재생, 복사를 통하여 누군가에 의해 전파되는 가공된 현실 속에서 살아가는 모습을 보여고 있었습니다.

그 만큼 우리가 믿고 있는 진실이라는 것이 비록 눈앞에 영상으로 보고 있지만, 사실은 숨겨진 내면의 진실 즉 감정의 전이가 이루어지기 힘들기 때문에 진실에 접근하기 더 어렵다고 봅니다.

그리고 SNS 상에서 벌어지는 많은 일들이 얼마나 외곡이 쉬운지 또 익명성에 따른 자기 표현의 자유도 좋지만 그로 인하여 피해를 입게 되는 모습도 볼 수 있습니다.

이 영화가 집중도가 높은 이유에는 남이 대신하는 게임, 요리, 먹방 등의 프로그램을 보듯이 관객들도 딸을 찾아가는 그 과정을 쫓아가며 증거를 찾거나 추론을 하기도 하고 한편으로는 논리적 모순과 같은 옥의 티를 찾기 위해 더 집중 된 것으로 보입니다.

극장에서 영화를 봤다면, 마우스 커서만 움직이고 확대된 컴퓨터 모니터에 그려지는 글자와 함께 자판소리만 들리는 가운데, 관객들은 먹고 있던 스낵과 음료 조차 조심스럽게 소리를 없애고 있다는 것을 알 수 있습니다.

그 만큼 몰입을 하고 있거나 여기서는 소리를 낼 수 없을 것 같은 깊은 정적 속에서 스스로 움츠려들게 만드는 듯합니다.

결론과 반전, 새로운 사실… 딸 Margot은 살아 돌아 올 수 있을까요?

그 반전에 새로운 반전을 더하여 마지막까지 관객들이 긴장을 끈을 놓을 수 없게 만드는 영화 “서치”는 상영 전부터 몰고 온 관심이 한 참 상영 중인 지금 입소문을 타고 더 인기를 몰아가는 것으로 보입니다.
